Beyond the Surface was NeuroArts' first multidisciplinary exhibition, held at The Deep End Cafe and Gallery in Summer 2024, featuring a group of locally based artists expressing experiences with mental health "beyond the surface." Founder Sasha Gusikhin guided our opening event, held on June 26, 2024, which featured a presentation-performance with new compositions by Nicole Knorr, David Magumba, and neurotech + improvisation adventures led by our music director Liam Charron. Our exhibition featured artists SinYu Deng, Summer Pengelly, Cynthia Zhou, Dallas McGhee-Henry, and the Aphasia Community Friendship Center, showcasing works exploring mental health, stigma, and the interaction between neurophysiology and the environment.
