Music Therapy:
Our board certified music therapists’ work with children, teens, adults and older adults with a wide variety of needs and abilities. We believe in taking an anti-oppressive, neuro-inclusive, and person centered approach in our work. Music therapy sessions may address (but is not limited to) the following goal areas:

Grace Frielink, Future MT-BC, Adaptive and Traditional Lesson Instructor (She/Her/Hers)
Grace Frielink is a recent graduate of Eastern Michigan’s BA in Music Therapy program and soon to be MT-BC! Grace is thrilled to be a member of the NeuroArts collective and co-direct the Creative Care program! She recently completed her music therapy internship at the Hochstein School in Rochester, NY where she provided community-based music therapy services for individuals and groups in the Greater Rochester area including: adults of all ages in group homes, older adults in assisted living and memory care facilities, elementary-aged students in schools, and early intervention speech, music, and occupational therapy co-treat groups for toddlers. Grace approaches her music therapy sessions with an autism-informed, neuro-inclusive, anti-oppressive, humanistic, and community centered lens. She also enjoys teaching music lessons, and has over six years of experience teaching cello, violin, viola, piano, and voice.
Grace is also a passionate songwriter, composer, and writes under the name “Grassy Joy”. Her music explores her personal life experiences, the human condition, and love. She is currently working on her debut album titled “Grassy Joy” and is looking forward to sharing her new music soon!

Sasha Gusikhin, Therapeutic Musician, Community Mental Health Worker (She/Her/Hers)
Sasha Gusikhin is a vocalist, flutist, and multidisciplinary artist based in Southeast MI. Her work centers improvisation, interactivity, and co-creation as a means of creative expression, community-building, and health justice advocacy. As an artist living with chronic illness, she is passionate about advocacy for person-centered health care, as well as providing neuroscience-informed, arts-integrated peer support to other individuals living with disability. She is a recent graduate of Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience and multidisciplinary voice performance at the University of Michigan, committed to merging diverse disciplines to reimagine mental health care! She serves as the director of NeuroArts Productions and the Aphasia Community Friendship Center, which has continued to light her passion for community-based mental health and advocacy work. As a first generation American-born artist, she is able to lead sessions in both English and Russian. For 1:1 support, she offers:

The Aphasia Community Friendship Center is a biweekly holistic support center for individuals living with communication disorders. Activities include group conversation activities, movement and music, speech-oriented music therapy, art experiences, and custom-tailored music performance to promote communication practice and social bonding. Group meetings run biweekly on Fridays from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Washtenaw Community College Health and Fitness Center 4800 E Huron River Dr, Ann Arbor, MI 48105 at the following dates:
